From 1900s Tokyo to ancient Egypt, Holmes’ hand-colored photos and early films made the world feel closer, more vibrant, and endlessly fascinating. 

His lens turned travel into storytelling in an essential way, long before most people had passports to travel the globe. Below are a collection of posters from some of these travel films, many of them from the early 1900s.
